Absolute Poker review

Absolute Poker is one of the most solid US facing online poker rooms out there. The room was rocked by a serious cheating scandal about 2 years ago when several players have been caught using an inside hack to view their opponents’ hole cards. The incident seriously messed up the poker room’s reputation. About a year ago, the room was re-launched on the new Cereus platform, where it currently shares player base with Ultimate Bet.
Absolute Poker had already had a solid player base before the UIGEA struck in 2006. It managed to retain most of its players after the cheating scandal too, and now that UB’s players play there too, the action has picked up quite a bit.
The Cereus software was a top-notch one upon the time of its launch and it has been updated quite regularly since.
The site currently offers a downloadable as well as a no-download software, meant to offer access for Mac users. The software is fast: it offers excellent multi tabling options (resizable tables) and all the options that are expected from a modern online poker room. It is also extremely stable and fast.

The sign-up bonus offered by Absolute Poker is an extremely generous one: new players have their first deposits matched 150%, up to $500 upon sign-up.
The bonus can be unlocked through real money play, by generating so called Status Points. The rate at which these status points are used up for bonus redemption depends on players’ VIP levels. The higher up on the VIP ladder a player is, the fewer SPs he needs to unlock every dollar of his bonus.
